Chelsea ran riot at Stamford Bridge and put six goals past a hapless Arsenal side as Arsene Wenger celebrated his 1000th game in charge of the Gunners.

Samuel Eto'o and Andre Schurrle put Chelsea two goals up early on before Eden Hazard's penalty, while Oscar scored either side of half-time to put Chelsea 5-0 up on 66 minutes.

Mohamed Salah put the icing on the cake late on with his first goal for the club.

Olivier Giroud came close for Arsenal after just four minutes, with Oxlade-Chamberlain's through ball finding Olivier Giroud, who forced Petr Cech into a fantastic save.

Chelsea went up the other end and broke the deadlock, however, with Eto'o turning inside the area and curling home superbly from 16 yards with his left foot.

And they were two up just two minutes later, with Andre Schurrle thumping home into the bottom left corner from just inside the penalty area as Chelsea broke again.

A huge moment of controversy followed the second goal, with Oxlade-Chamberlain handling on the line after Eden Hazard's effort.

Referee Marriner initially didn't give a penalty, before consulting with the linesman and awarding the spot-kick. Marriner then mistakenly sent off Gibbs instead of Oxlade-Chamberlain, despite the England winger admitting to the official that it was he who handled the ball.

Hazard's shot was heading wide, meaning Oxlade-Chamberlain didn't need to handle the ball. Hazard stepped up to convert the penalty and put Chelsea 3-0 up.

Oscar put them four up before half-time, slotting home Fernando Torres' low ball from six yards, and they were five up after 66 minutes, with Oscar again scoring from 20 yards after Wojciech Szczesny's fumble.

Mohamed Salah scored his first goal for the club, finishing through on goal with Szczesny.
