Mastermind of Nyanya Bomb Blast Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche, arrested in Sudan


The mastermind of the Nyanya bombing, Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche who was declared wanted by the Nigerian Police Force has been arrested in Sudan. The arrest came after the National Bureau of the Interpol based at the Nigerian Police Force Headquarters issued an international red alert for the arrest of the fleeing terrorist.


The Coordinator of the national briefing centre, Mr. Mike Omeri, who is also the Director-General of National Orientation Agency (NOA), said Ogwuche was arrested on Wednesday in Sudan.

Security sources say that Oguche was arrested through the help of the Military Attaché to the Nigerian High Commission in Sudan with the help of international security operatives. Ogwuche, who is a student of Arabic Language at the International University of Africa, Sudan is a British born Nigerian, formerly of the Nigerian Army with service number SVC 95/104. but was said to have deserted the Army in 2006.

It could be recalled that the Department of State Services (DSS), had on Monday 12, May 2014 during a joint news conference declared him and one Rufai Tsiga wanted for the bombing of Nyanya Motor Park on 14 April which killed over 75 people. The DSS through its Director of Public Relations of DSS, Marilyn Ogar, announced the declaration.

Reports stated that security operatives are already working to ensure his extradition back to Nigeria from where he was arrested.
