Man Arrested For Impersonating Adenuga, Posting Nude Photos On Social Media


A 32-year-old man, Chris Iweka, who allegedly impersonated business mogul Mike Adenuga and posted pictures of nude ladies on the social media, was on Monday dragged before a Tinubu Magistrates' Court in Lagos. Iweka of No.1, Road 34, Ikota Villa Estate, Lekki, is facing an eight-count charge bordering on intent to extort, breach of peace and having sex wilfully and without lawful excuse.


Other offences for which the accused is being tried include impersonation, intent to extort and obtaining under false pretences.

The prosecutor, ASP Chidi Okoye, said the offences were committed between November 2013 and April, 18, 2014, at the residence of the accused and in a hotel.

He alleged that the accused had met with the complainant, Judith Nwoke of Zenith Bank on Facebook, and developed a cordial relationship.

The prosecutor said the accused invited Nwoke to a hotel on their first meeting, and unknown to her, he had bugged the room with various cameras to record the love-making session.

He said the accused had on several occasions, threatened the complainant with her nude photos and video, showing their intimacy, if she did not give him money.

Okoye said Iweka kept asking her for money and sex, and threatened to expose the complainant’s incriminating materials at his disposal, which he eventually did, when the lady refused to yield.

The prosecutor said the accused falsely presented himself as Mike Adenuga, and lured girls into chatting with him on Facebook and was extorting them.

“He developed various relationships with ladies online, and they fall prey when they send nude photographs of themselves to the accused, and he threatened them with same, if they did not give him money.”

The prosecutor said the accused also falsely represented himself as Van Vicker, an actor, and other well known personalities, before he was apprehended by the Police.

Okoye said the offences contravened Sections 57(1) (a), 78(a)(b), 134, 300, 301 and 316 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused was first arraigned on April 28, before the Magistrate, Mrs Yetunde Pinheiro.

She granted the accused bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

But after carefully going through the file, the matter was transferred to the court of Chief Magistrate Abimbola Awogboro.

Awogboro adjourned the matter till June 8 and June 9, for commencement of trial.
